Eight short lessons take you from your first look at the keyboard to steady, confident typing. Work through them in order, practise the exercises in each one, then use the typing test to check your progress.

How to use these lessons
Read one lesson at a time and spend a few sessions on its exercises before moving on. Short, regular practice of ten to twenty minutes is more effective than an occasional long session. You can mark a lesson as complete if you find it helpful; this is optional and is only remembered in your own browser.
When you feel ready, take the English typing test on Basic difficulty to see where you are, or try the number typing test to practise digits.
